What amazing weather we had over Easter, let’s hope that stays with us for a bit! Carnival comes to William Ransom! Beech class have had an enjoyable five weeks learning and practising their Batucada patterns and finally got to share it with the rest of the school today. It was a creative spring term in Beech! Beech class have been getting very creative lately. They finished their penguin jazz dance in PE and learnt how to play samba for their drumming performance, but they have also worked on dramatising the stories from a wide range of books. Glue Guns at the Ready! Today was DT day in Willow Class and we explored the rainforests of the world to discover amazing junk bugs. 'Green Planet' talk at HGS Last week, Willow Class and the Yr5s from Cherry and Chestnut were invited to Hitchin Girls' School to listen to Phil Williams. Well done Oak class, a great assembly Well done Oak class, a great assembly. Everyone remembered their words and spoke in lovely loud voices. Oak children love their mums How much do you love your mum and why? This was the writing task in Oak class yesterday. What did they say? County Dance Festival On Wednesday 6th of March, fifteen children from across key stage one and two travelled to St Albans Arena to take part in the County Dance Festival. This festival celebrates dance across schools in Hertfordshire. Thank you from The SPA On Friday, the SPA hosted another successful Quiz and Curry Night. We are very grateful to Milisha from Bluebells Children’s Centre for cooking all the food for us - it was delicious! World Book Day in Holly Class What an array of different books, interesting characters and amazing costumes! World Book Day comes to William Ransom! For World Book Day 2019 we decided to try something different! We wrote a story all together class by class involving objects brought in by the teachers! Willow's World Book Day With a varied range of characters from The Girl Savage to Billionaire Boy, Willow Class showed what a well read bunch they are! Recycled Fashion Club Displaying the wonderful outfits they had created, our fledging designers glided down the catwalk on Saturday 2nd March at St Christopher's School. William Ransom ‘Go Orange’ for Muscular Dystrophy. We have been looking at different ways to support people less fortunate than themselves. The school council were approached to look into the Muscular Dystrophy UK charity and they all felt this was a worthy charity to support. K'Nex Challenge 2019 - Year 5 This year's STEM K'Nex challenge saw our Year 5s designing and building a futuristic flying machine. Getting creative in Holly class We started this half term in D&T by making our stick puppets, following our designs and adapting them where necessary. Bringing Kensuke's Kingdom to Life Willow Class (along with the rest of KS2) were treated to a masterclass in performing arts when a West End performer taught them a dance to represent the classic Morpurgo book's storyline.
