A morning at William Ransom

The sun was shining this morning and I thought it was an ideal time to take a learning walk around the school.

The variety of activities going on was amazing and all the children were really focussed in their learning. It made me proud to be part of William Ransom.

Some of the teachers are introducing a new approach to Maths – using Bar Modelling as a teaching technique and this is proving highly effective so we will roll it out across the whole school.

There were physical activities going on inside and out. Pine class were starting the day with PE which woke everyone up whilst some of the reception children were dancing on a number line to reinforce their number concepts!

Staff were working with small groups of children to focus their learning; there was guided reading and direct teaching to keep everyone on task. The older children were more independent in their learning, organising their problem solving and discussing the way forward with each other.

And as if that wasn’t enough all of KS2 have had the opportunity to get involved in a Samba drumming workshop. It is wonderful to see the Activity Studio being used for this sort of thing whilst we still have the hall for assemblies and PE.

This is just a flavour of a day in the life of William Ransom!
