A week of preparation

Another busy week preparing our cards for Mother’s Day and getting ready for a class assembly.

Mother’s day cards were finished just in time. I hope that the anemones made it home safely!

As we prepare for our class assembly about our work on spring I would ask that all children practise saying the individual sentence that Mrs.Wagstaffe sent home with all children on Wednesday. A loud clear voice that reaches to the back of the hall is essential. The singing is coming along well and most of the children can remember the verse of the poem that they are saying in a small group.

The children read the story of The Enormous Turnip on Friday and worked on small projects about the book. One group planted turnip seed, another painted pictures of the story. The third group acted out the story and the last group worked with a partner to make a model of the story. If you want to read the story with your child and indeed many of the children read along with the powerpoint, it can be found on:

The children also read the story of Town Mouse and Country Mouse with Mrs. Poynter this week which again you can read on the website above.

We are assessing the children to advise our planning for after Easter so we will be doing some testing of Phase 3 phonics and we have done a writing assessment to see how much progress has been made this half term. There will as a result be some advice for helping your child further over the Easter holiday.

Have an enjoyable weekend.
