Able, Gifted and Talented Creative Writing Conference

On Friday 27th March, a group of Year 5 and 6s went to Redborne Upper School to attend a Creative Writing Day.

Mrs Shibli, a governor at our school who also works at Redborne School, took us as well as Mrs Hall.

We got into pairs and sat at tables with children from other schools and Year 12 and 13 A Level English pupils. We started off by writing monologues.  A monologue is a descriptive piece of writing from somebody’s point of view.

After a brief break, we did ‘Found Poetry’.  Found Poetry is when you make a poem from a book or something you’ve read.

In the afternoon, we had to send a letter to David Cameron.  It was about whether we were for or against the idea that all electronic devices should be removed from schools.  Most pupils were against the idea.

At the end of the day, awards were handed out and we were presented with a certificated by the Headteacher. Everyone agreed it was an excellent day and we learnt lots.
