B Team Football Rally

The ‘B’ Team took part in a fun afternoon of football at Wilshere Dacre School but were unable to replicate the success of last year’s team. With several schools pulling out the tournament was redrawn and two leagues of four were set up. The top two from each of these leagues would go through to contest the semi-finals and ultimately the final.

As tends to be the case, there were very few chances to score in any of the group games. The first game was against Breachwood Green and with the pitches not being at their best following the ‘A’ Team rally five days earlier, players were struggling to stay on their feet. At half time, the game was goalless although Lewis opened the scoring shortly after the break to give us the lead. Breachwood Green equalised, however, shortly afterwards and that was how the game finished. Our second game was against Ickleford and neither team managed to score and we were also unable to find the net, despite several good chances, in game three, against Wilshere Dacre. Wilshere Dacre did score, however, and with that defeat, the boys’ afternoon was over.

The final was between Ickleford and Breachwood Green, with Ickleford running out eventual winners. Well done to all the boys who took part in this competition.
