Class 5/6A’s field trip to Oughtonhead Common Nature Reserve

This term the children have been learning about rivers as their unit of work in Geography.  On a very cold Wednesday Morning, both 5/6 Classes went on field trip to Oughtonhead Common Nature reserve.

The children were separated into groups of eight with each group being given a booklet of activities to complete.  While the children were at the nature reserve they needed to identify the different features of the River Oughton.  They also tried to identify which living creatures could be found in the river and what the local people generally used the area for.

The children had a lot of fun taking their learning outside of the classroom even if it did take the rest of the day to warm up afterwards!!

Below are a few photos taken during our field trip.
