End of Term Newsletter

We have now reached the end of an exhausting term and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the support you have offered this term.

The School performances of ‘The Missing Present’ and The Reception’s ‘The Sense of Christmas’ went very well and I am pleased to be able to say that we raised a total of £547.33 through the charity collections. This is an amazing amount and I thank you all for your generosity. This will be sent off to The Neo-natal Unit at The Luton & Dunstable Hospital which is a charity that has been close to our hearts here at William Ransom.

It is always very difficult to accommodate all the individual ticket requests and we tried to accommodate all by putting on an extra dress rehearsal. However, this put extra pressure on all concerned and did not solve problems of entitlement. It is unlikely that we will open dress rehearsals to an audience in future as it causes too many problems.

Mr Mills has taken hundreds of photographs of the Christmas Production and a selection will appear on the new school website once it is up and running. If you would like to purchase a CD containing these and many other photos, we will send an order form home in the New Year. The CD will be sold at cost, this is not intended as a money making exercise. I know many of you have started to look at the new website (www.wransom.co.uk) and I hope you are as impressed with it as we are. I must say a big thank you to Mr Dean Fox who has done all the hard work in constructing the new site and has agreed to help us with the regular maintenance of the site. It will be officially launched on the 6th January 2013 so make sure you have a look then.

I hope you were as impressed as I was with ‘The Orbit’ – The William Ransom Newspaper! It is a wonderful piece of work and I must congratulate the children involved for all their hard work. I would also like to thank Alison Stephenson for all her work in organising it and getting it all together. You will have seen that this edition was sponsored by LV=, for which we are very grateful. It certainly added to the quality of the newspaper. If you think you or your company might like to sponsor a future edition, please contact Alison through the school.

Please use the Christmas break as an ideal time to have children’s hair cut. Please remember that the boys’ hair should be no longer than their collar and no high fashion styles.

As a reminder the children will be returning to school on Monday 7th January 2013, please note there is NO INSET day on this occasion.

On behalf of everyone at William Ransom, I would like to wish you all a very happy Christmas and a peaceful and prosperous New Year.
