Girl’s football team are to play at Clarence Park

The second round of the Wix tournament was held at Wheatfields School tonight. After winning the Hitchin schools round the girls went forward to play against a selection of the best schools in Hertfordshire. A magnificient 6-0 win against St. Marys with Rachel scoring all of the goals, was assisted by Annabel in taking the ball forward. A strong back line and Lauren in goal meant that St. Mary’s had very few serious attempts to score.

The second game against St. Andrews which followed on without a break was really hard work as they were a very strong team. The defence did a great job at keeping the total scored against them to 4 but St. Andrew’s defence ensured that William Ransom had very few chances to score. A 4-0 loss was unfortunate but the girls never let their heads go down and with such a good score on their first game have been put through as the best runners up. The final round is to be held at Clarence Park, the St. Albans City ground on 7th May. We wish them all the very best.
