Healthy Sandwiches

This term in DT Maple class have been discussing what makes a healthy sandwich.

The children tried out different types of bread in order to choose their favourites. We then discussed what ingredients we could include in our sandwich to make it healthy.

This lead us to looking at healthy and unhealthy foods and how to spot them in the supermarkets by looking at the traffic light labelling on packaging.

Today we ended our topic by making and tasting our healthy sandwiches. There were some very interesting concoctions and lots of children tried (and enjoyed) something for the first time or said they were pleased at trying to improve their buttering skills!

The children were given the option to try others' sandwiches but after putting it to vote they decided they wanted to keep their tasty sandwiches for themselves!

Great work Maple.
