Herts School Games

After winning the North Herts tournament William Ransom were invited to take part against the best cricket teams in the county. The team started the day in confident fashion easing past Little Green. After a good start in the batting the team went on to post a score of 276 for 4 which could not be matched by Little Green, who only managed 218 for 8. This was an excellent start and just what the boys needed.

The team was able to carry this form into the second game against Sheredes, making a similar target of 270 for the loss of only one wicket. Sheredes had a stronger batting line up than Little Green but with an excellent feilding display, by WR they were only able to make 245 in reply.

This victory secured our passage through to the quarter finals as group winners. In the quarter finals the team met stronger opposition in the form of Greneway but were still able to make an impressive 259 for 5. This proved too much for the opposition, who were only able to make 223 for 7.

William Ransom then moved onto the semi-finals. This is where the team found the toughest game of the day against Redbourn. From the first over the boys knew they were facing excellent bowling and this carried on throughout the innings. They did battle back to reach 235 runs but this was never going to be enough to contain an excellent batting performance put on by Redbourn and sadly WR had to settle for the third place play off. This proved to be a much easier game and again batting first, the boys were able to make their highest total of the day, an impressive 324 for 1. This was far too much for Little Reddings who only managed 213 for 13. so after a long day with some excellent performances the team were very happy to settle for a well deserved thrid place.
