Home Learning Update 3

Dear Parents,

I hope you and the children are well and that you enjoyed the Easter sunshine. It’s important to have a break but we are now at the start of a new term, so I have some new work for the children.

I have set a My Maths task for each day for the next two weeks. A new one will all be available each morning, but they all have the same completion date, so you have time to revisit them if you wish. As well as a Maths task each day, I expect you to practise times tables too. Which is your favourite way to do this? Do you play games to learn them? Do you use them when you’re exercising? Maybe you could write it down or send me a photo so I can share it with the rest of the class.

How Is your reading going? It’s important you do a bit each day and that you practise answering questions about the stories. Don’t forget to look up or ask about words you don’t know the meaning of too. What do you think of Fiction Express? Which books would you recommend to your classmates? If you’re not using Fiction Express and would like to then email me for your login in and password. Has anyone listened to Kid Normal? Or any other audio books? I’m halfway through and I’m really enjoying being read to, especially as Greg James does some silly voices which is fun.

Is anyone keeping a diary? This is a great way to do some writing each day. You could then edit and improve it the next day and maybe write a neat version once it’s checked and illustrate it. Any research and writing you do for foundation subjects can double up as your English for that day and remember this is something you can work on a little bit at a time. I’m going to attach a document for a time capsule that might be a fun afternoon activity, but don’t forget there is a daily timetable on Twinkl for some other ideas for foundation topics.

One Maths activity plus times tables practise and some reading and writing each morning is plenty. If your writing isn’t about a foundation subject, then maybe do something practical in the afternoon linked to one of our topics and don’t forget to do some exercise too. How are your eggs coming along? Don’t forget to send me your photos so I can share them with the rest of the class.

Please get in touch if you need anything. I’m on my email (l.eldridge@wransom.herts.sch.uk) and Twitter (@Beech_WR).

Kind Regards,

Miss Eldridge
