Important information

Many of you will have heard on the news or read in the newspapers about the shortage of places in Primary Schools across the Country. Hitchin is no exception and over the last few years there has been a steady increase in the number of places needed in Hitchin Primary Schools.

You will be aware that this academic year saw Samuel Lucas increase to 2 form entry with a new classroom block being built on their site.

We have now been informed by the County Planners that there is a shortage of spaces for 2016 – 2017 and onwards and that William Ransom is one of four schools being considered for expansion.  What this could mean is that from September 2016 our intake into reception would be 60 rather than 38 pupils.

We are in the very early stages of discussions with County and they will be publishing initial information on Herts Direct in the near future.  We were very concerned that we kept you, as the parent body, in the picture.  We are sure that you will have many questions, but at this stage we have no further information to share with you.   As and when more information becomes available we will, of course, let you know and provide you with details of where any information is published.

Following the recent OFSTED visit, we want to reassure you that maintaining our Outstanding provision for your children is our first priority.

Yours sincerely
