Information from Mrs Driver

Just a few things to draw to your attention before the end of term:

Please ensure ALL children are in the playground before the bell goes at 8.45am. We have noticed a few running in late. They are the ones who get into trouble yet we know in many cases it is parents’ fault that children are late. Please help your child by ensuring they get into school on time.

At the end of the day please discourage your child from climbing the trees bordering the lane and the school site. I have had a number of complaints from bystanders and the trees are definitely not in a great condition for climbing. Also please think carefully about where you park in the roads around the school. Please don’t park on the corner of Bowman’s Avenue, it blocks views from people crossing the road and it is an accident waiting to happen! We also have problems with children playing on the outdoor apparatus at the end of the day. Please keep your children with you and don’t allow them to play where there is no supervision.

On Monday 20th July at 9.00, we would like to offer all parents the opportunity of coming into school to meet their child’s new class teacher for about 20 minutes. We recognise that there are parents who do not know their child’s new teacher and this will be an ideal opportunity for you to put a face to a name. However, if you know the teacher your child will be working with, you may feel there is no need for you to attend. By then you will, of course, have received the letter telling you how the school will be structured next year and which class your child will be in!
We will hold a whole school assembly for the pupils on that morning so that the teachers will be free to be in their rooms to meet parents. However, this is not the time to speak on an individual basis about your child. If you would like to talk separately to the teacher an appointment needs to be made through the school office in September.
The teachers will use this opportunity to give a very rough outline of some of the curriculum areas we will be covering, some of the trips classes have planned and possibly any particular equipment a certain year group might need.
On this occasion we are not asking for reply slips as we understand that work commitments might mean you do not know until the last minute. Therefore please feel free to just turn up. If you have more than one child we would suggest that you visit one class and then at about 9.20 just pop to see the other teacher to introduce yourself.

The summer term is flying by so quickly it seems ages since the summer fete, but the SPA are holding an Open Meeting at The Orange Tree Pub on Monday 29th June 2015 at 8.30pm for anyone who would like to come along and join the ‘debrief’ about the fete. There is an SPA meeting first and then we will concentrate on the fete from 8.30 onwards.

As we approach the end of the school year we would like to put a plea out for all missing Sports Kits that children have had to play in this year. We are missing Athletics kits, football & netball kits and lots of shin pads and socks!  Please wash ad return as soon as possible. We would also like to have an amnesty on all school books. Please check everywhere at home, especially under beds where school books have a habit of lurking!!
