Information from Mrs Driver

Dear Parents

As we creep ever closer to the end of term I thought I would keep you informed about a few details:

The Main School Show – Seven Wonders of the World is next week on 14th, 15th & 16th December at 6.30pm. We have suggested that Key Stage 2 pupils come back to school after 6.00pm and Key Stage 1 after 6.15. The Golden Wonders can return ready dressed which means no-one needs to be back at school too early. We will open the doors to the hall at 6.10 and ask that all parents are seated by 6.25. Latecomers will not be admitted.

I am afraid there are no remaining tickets for any performances. After the performances each evening the children must be collected from school by an adult. Class 1/R will leave from their normal school door, Classes 1/2, 2, 3 & 3/4 will all leave from the door by Class 1/2 and Classes 4/5 & 5/6 will all leave from the back door of the school. On this occasion parents will be allowed onto the playgrounds.

We are aware of how tired the pupils get during these performances so we will not be closing the registers until 9.55am on Tuesday 15th, Wednesday 16th and Thursday 17th for pupils in all classes other than Class R. However, if Class R have a sibling higher up the school we understand if the family all come in late. This will allow pupils a little longer in bed should it be necessary. If they arrive after 9.55 they will be registered as late.

Please remember we are holding our Annual Christmas jumper day on Thursday 17th December when children can wear a Christmas jumper or t shirt to school with their uniform for £1 for Save the Children. This is completely optional.
This is also our Christmas Lunch day.

The Attendance Improvement Officer has been looking at registers recently and is aware of all pupils with attendance less than 95%. Where there is a high number of unauthorised absences, the local authority are looking to issue fixed term penalties. We are told that pupils with an attendance of only 90% have only a 34.7% chance of getting 5 A* – C at GCSE so school attendance really does matter. As always at this time of year we have a number of sickness bugs in school. Please remember if your child has suffered from vomiting they must stay away from school for 24 hours.

Please remember if you have any concerns please do not hesitate to make an appointment and come and see me.

Yours sincerely
Mary Driver
