Information from Mrs Driver

Dear Parents

As another academic year draws to a close I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for the support and involvement you have given the school this year.

It has certainly been an interesting year this year with our building work. This week has been all about the existing school getting packed up as we prepare to hand it over to Willmott Dixon for the summer break. When we return in September I am confident we will have our new building and a completely refurbished school. There will still be some external work to complete, but that is to be expected. Thank you for your patience, understanding and interest in the building work. I will try to keep you updated over the break. I will be coming in once in the middle of August and I will put a progress report on the school website! Look out for photos under my Building Blog!

Please note the school site will be completely closed to public access during the summer break. There will be no public right of way. Please respect the builders requests and do not try to come into school.

The Orbit
I hope you have all received your edition of The Orbit. As always, it is fantastic and I would like to thank Willmott Dixon for sponsoring this edition. The competition this time is to take a ‘summer themed’ photograph and to email it to l.thorn@wransom.herts.sch.uk It would be lovely to see some of the exciting things the children get up to over the summer. Likewise I will also try to keep an eye on Twitter if you would like to share any of your trips out with the school community. Remember our Twitter account is a protected account and we only accept current parents as followers of our account. I look forward to seeing some of the photographs.

Music lessons
All peripatetic music lessons will start the week beginning 12th September so please ensure, where appropriate, children have their instruments in school. At the moment it is looking like Violin – Monday & Wednesday, Brass & Recorder – Tuesdays, Guitar – Wednesday. A more detailed timetable will be issued by the teachers once the groupings have been fully established. We look forward to welcoming Laura Ward as our new recorder teacher.

Bugsy Malone!
Those of you who came to Bugsy Malone! last week will have seen the remarkable talent many of our pupils have on the stage. Their performances were outstanding and we were really proud of all of them. I am delighted to be able to tell you that we raised £436.14 to be sent to The Red Cross and St John’s Ambulance.

Goodbye
Today is definitely the end of an era as we say goodbye to Mrs Brown and Mrs Towler. They are both such integral parts of the school. Their support and loyalty has been unwavering and we will all miss them both very much. However, they will not be far away and have promised to come back to see us often. I am sure you will join me in wishing them both a long and happy retirement.

Please remember that we have delayed the start of the Autumn term and therefore we look forward to welcoming the pupils back to school on Wednesday 7th September. At the moment I am unable to tell you about access routes so please watch out for messages on the website and tweets! I trust you all have an enjoyable summer break!

Yours sincerely
Mary Driver
