Information from Mrs Driver

Builder’s Blog
Over half term I will be putting my final Builder’s Blog on the school website. We are almost at the end of the expansion project and Willmott Dixon will be leaving the site on the 31st October. We are delighted with the building work and I would like to extend our thanks to Jack Wells, our site manager, for his work, commitment and dedication to the project.

Privacy notice
Over half term we will also be updating the Privacy notice on the school website relating to the Data Protection Act 1998. We update this every Autumn term and copies are sent home with all new entrants.

Shoebox Appeal
I hope you have all received the information regarding the Shoebox Appeal. This is a lovely activity to do with your children over half term but don’t forget half term is also a great time to catch up on reading and practising number work!

Parking
Once again I have had complaints about parents parking irresponsibly outside the school grounds. Please do not stop on the zig zag lines or park on the corner of Bowmans Avenue. It is extremely dangerous and is likely to cause an accident.
Please do not turn round at the top of Stuart Drive, come through the school grounds and go out along Holdbrook. Please consider ‘Park and Stride’ – park a little further away and walk your children to school, you might find they enjoy it!

Lollipop lady
Advance notice: There will be no lollipop lady on Wymondley Rd. on the afternoon of Tuesday 1st November. She will be back on Wednesday morning.

Prospective parents
Do you know someone with a child due to start school in September 2017? The dates for our Open Events for prospective parents are on the website so make sure people know about it!

Thank you for all your support this half term. We all feel the academic year has started well and we are delighted with our new accommodation and the refurbishments to the existing building. Many of the extra-curricular activities have started and we have met a lot of success on both the football and netball fronts.
Different classes have been out and about on various trips which have enhanced the children’s learning and there are plenty more planned for the rest of the year. I am extremely grateful to all the staff for researching and preparing these trips in order to make the curriculum more exciting.
The SPA has had a very busy half term and have already held two events to kick start their fund raising for this academic year. Thank you to all the committee for their tireless energy in preparing these events and to those of you who supported them. Don’t forget The Winter Wonderland on 19th November; lots of help will be needed as well as plenty of donations and lots of people to come along and support. Santa is already polishing up his train ready for children to join him for storytime!
It was lovely to see so many of you during the Parent Consultations this week. I trust you found them useful.
Please remember if there is anything you would like to discuss with me, do not hesitate to make an appointment.

I hope you all have a lovely half term break and we look forward to seeing the children back at school on Monday 31st October 2016.

Yours sincerely
Mary Driver
