Information from Mrs Driver

Sports Day
The weather is looking good for Sports Day on Friday 29th June. Key Stage 1 will start at 10.00am and Key Stage 2 at 1.30. I am afraid you do have to leave the school site between the two events so that we can monitor who is on school premises. It does look like it might be quite warm so please ensure your children are covered in sun screen and have a hat. We will put up gazebos to shade the children and endeavour not to block views! However, we do not have many gazebos. If you have one we could borrow, please let the school office know. Last year it worked well not putting out rows of chairs and parents bringing their own chairs and/or rugs and sitting on the bank. The SPA will be running a tea stall although I think cold drinks are more likely to be the order of the day!

Wearing a watch in KS2
Advanced information! From September 2018 we are going to allow Key Stage 2 children to start wearing a watch to school to assist them in learning to tell the time. They must be analogue watches with no ‘extra sounds’! Smart watches may not be worn. This is optional and we suggest a cheap, durable watch.

Book amnesty
As we approach the end of term we would like to ask for a book amnesty. Please check under beds and in cupboards for any books that might belong to William Ransom. Mrs Mitchell is doing a stock-take of the library over the summer and would like to ensure we have all books returned. Please return all books by Friday 20th July.

New teacher
I am delighted to tell you that we have appointed Mrs Hazel Barrett as our new teacher in Ash Class. Many of you will have met her on the entrance at the summer fete and she has already been in school to meet some of the new children. I am sure you will all join me in welcoming Hazel to the William Ransom team.

Please remember if you have any concerns about your child at school, do not hesitate to come in to see me.

Yours sincerely
Mary Driver
