It was a creative spring term in Beech!

Beech class have been getting very creative lately. They finished their penguin jazz dance in PE and learnt how to play samba for their drumming performance, but they have also worked on dramatising the stories from a wide range of books.

On World Book Day, the class enjoyed dressing up as their favourite characters and sharing the books those characters were from. In the same week, they presented a class assembly to the rest of the school about the books they have been reading in class. The class sensibly divided themselves in to three equal groups, planned what they would say and what work they would share. In addition, they improvised a dramatic retelling of each story which was all their own work.

In autumn, we studied Roald Dahl through his first book, James and The Giant Peach. After Christmas, we read The Spiderwick Chronicles and learned all about the Grace children before moving on to The Butterfly Lion by Michael Morporgo. The children really enjoyed sharing an assembly that was their own work and are currently having fun reading David Walliams’ Mr Stink.
