Jazzing up The Jungle Book

Class 4/5 took inspiration from Classic Literature for their dance classes this term and produced a group dance to The Bare Necessities. They started with a whole class stroll incorporating seven different jazz moves and then took some of these moves to form their own sequences in smaller groups.

Next they had to teach their sequence to another group and merge them together to form a group of eight. The final section of the dance is a solo section where the children improvise their animal moves to travel around the space and into an end position.

Originally they performed as a whole class but when it came to assembly they had to perform in two halves so we could fit the rest of the school in to watch!

They had fun presenting it to their peers but it took some practise first!
