Lest we forget

Year 1 have done some wonderful learning based around Remembrance Day. Hazel class spent an afternoon learning all about the importance of it and the reasons why we wear poppies. The poppy wreath has looked beautiful in our window this week.

In music both Hazel and Holly class listened to a song version of ‘In Flanders Fields’ sung at a Salvation Army Concert. The children were able to recognise how instruments changed the mood and feeling of the song and we all played our very own percussion instruments when the music became more rousing.

And finally this morning we marked the day by joining in a whole-school two-minute silence. The children all showed great respect and we’re very proud of their attitude to the occasion.
