Making pizzas at Pizza Express

As part of our unit of work on pizza packaging, Class 3/4 went to Pizza Express in Hitchin, to see how pizzas are made and to have a go at making a pizza ourselves.  We were given a ball of dough, which we had to pull and stretch by hand so it would fit into a shallow pan.  It was difficult making the dough thin enough without making holes in it!  We then had to spread the tomato paste over the dough just by moving the tin around and hitting the side with our hands.  After that we added lots of cheese and torn basil leaves.

The oven at Pizza Express is very hot so our pizzas cooked in only 3 and half minutes.  They looked and smelt delicious.
