Mosque role-play

Today Class Two took part in a role-play about visiting a Mosque, when their classroom was turned into a prayer hall. The children had to take off their shoes and wash their hands and face before entering the prayer hall. The girls covered their heads with a scarf and the boys wore hats, which were very kindly lent by Wathaq. They felt excited and slightly apprehensive.

In the prayer hall, the prayer mats, made in a previous session, were laid out on the floor. The children had to find their mat and kneel on it. Mrs Mills read a short section of the Qur’an and the children tried out some prayer positions. All the children said afterwards that it had been a good experience.
