Mrs Driver’s Latest Newsletter

Dear Parents

Many of you will be aware that we have a child in Year 6 with Childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL). We would ask you to ensure that you inform us if your child has been in contact with any infectious diseases such as chicken pox or measles. It is important that we know this in order to minimise the risk for the child concerned.

It is also important that I remind you that we operate a Nut Free environment. We have six children in school with severe nut allergies and it is essential that we have no foods containing nuts brought into school. This is especially important when children bring in birthday treats. Many sweets do contain traces of nut and therefore must not be brought in. There are also a number of other children with a variety of allergies. Please ensure that all food brought into school is clearly labelled with ingredients. Please support us in this; we want to keep all children safe.

We are currently updating all information sheets about our pupils. If your child suffers with asthma and has an inhaler, please ensure that we are aware and that we have an ‘in-date’ inhaler in school. We are unable to give any children any kind of medication unless you have signed a consent form. If you are unsure about this, please check with the school office.

I know many of you value our use of Twitter to keep you up to date with what is happening in school. We operate a protected Twitter Account so that only the people we accept will see what is sent out. We have recently ‘tidied up’ our followers so if we have accidentally ‘blocked’ you, it is not a personal slight, it was a mistake! Just let us know, apply to follow again and we will accept you. For those of you who haven’t yet joined, if you wish to follow come and see Mrs Massey in the office and she will help you get connected!

Hopefully you have seen the information about extra-curricular activities on the school website. Please do not confuse the extra-curricular activities run in school with After-Schools clubs providing wrap around care. I am sure you appreciate that our lack of space means we are unable to offer facilities to an external provider but we can signpost you to a range of services in Hitchin offering wrap around care.

We are starting to assemble email addresses in order to be able to begin using ‘In Touch’, our new parent communication system. If you have not yet supplied us with one or more email addresses, please do so as soon as possible so we can begin to use In Touch.

Yours sincerely

Mary Driver
