Nature Day!

What an amazing day we had!

Over 30 parent volunteers came along with their children to help us total transform the Nature Area we have in school!

It was a lovely bright sunny morning and people turned out in force to provide man power to rebuild our nature area. Groundworks, the Herts organisation had planned the area for us and organised the work outside. First we had to clear the way through and then a group of parents made a path through the area. Another group cleared an area at one end and made benches out of railway sleepers for a quiet area. Another group did some pyrography and made posts to label the trees.

Whilst all of this was going on, the staff were running nature activities for the children. They could plant bulbs, make bird feeders, decorate biscuits, make clay hedgehogs, make  spiders, see how far they could throw, do some leaf painting and make a bag to carry their creations home in. Everyone was incredibly busy!

We also had a group making bug hotels and a bug mansion.

Fortunately the teaching assistants kept everybody well fed and watered and they provided a great sandwich lunch!

It really was a fantastic day and by the end the nature area had been transformed and everyone had had an amazing time.

Thank you to everyone who came along, staff and parents, we could not have done it without you!
