One Kind Word

Every year in November, there is a dedicated Anti-Bullying Week to shine a spotlight on bullying and consider steps we can take to stop it.

In English, we are reading the story Mr Stink by David Walliams. In this story one of the main characters, Chloe, is being bullied by her a child in her class and we discussed how this might make you feel and what you should do if you were ever in the same situation. We decided the best way to deal with this situation would be to tell a trusted adult about what’s happening so if you are hurt by what someone says or does it can be dealt with.

The Anti-Bullying Alliance has the theme ‘One Kind Word’ this year.

One kind word leads to another. Kindness fuels kindness.  From the playground to parliament, from our phones to our home, together our actions can fire a chain reaction that powers positivity. It starts with one kind word.’

We used this message of ‘One Kind Word’ and asked the children to create an acrostic poem. The children came up with a kind word of their own which they used to offer advice to beat the bullies and be kind/stay positive.

Here are some examples of the children’s work. We hope you enjoy reading them!
