Proposed Expansion of William Ransom School – Update

On Monday 13 July, Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) Cabinet formally approved the proposal to expand the school and also to release the capital funding required to do so.

This capital funding includes provision to build the new classroom block (replacing the old mobiles), replace the leaking IT roof, enlarge the hall and replace the old window wall, make alterations to increase the dining facilities, provide a Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) and improve staff parking.

For those parents who were unable to attend the HCC Information event last week, the preliminary draft plans can be found on the school website.

What happens next?

As we are now only a few days away from the end of term, we wanted to share with you our current understanding of what happens next.  Whilst exact timescales are still to be agreed, we hope you will find the information below, provided by HCC, of help:-

Submission of the full planning application is currently due at the start of August.  Public consultation usually lasts 21 days but as it is the school summer holidays, it is possible this may be extended by the Planning Authority to 4 or 5 weeks.

Once the planning application has been submitted, you will be able to view it by going to the link https://cloud1.atriumsoft.com/HCCePlanningOPS/searchPageLoad.do.  Please type “William Ransom” into the keyword search.  Comments can be made via this website or directly to the planning authority by e-mailing spatial.planning@hertfordshire.gov.uk

HCC Planning Authority should write to the same local residents as those who were contacted during the first consultation stage.  They will also put up an orange site notice at the school publicising the application and giving dates and addresses to write to with any comments

A decision on the planning application is anticipated during October 2015.

Over the summer holiday period, we will endeavour to update the school website with any relevant or updated information.
Thank you.

Yours sincerely
