Super Start to Season Continues

The boys football team have continued to impress this season, with some excellent results recently. After the disappointing opening game of the season, the team have gone on to win all of the five games since.

The Cockernhoe Match had some excellent goals, with hat-tricks coming from Tom, Calum and Feranmi to contribute towards the 13 – 0 victory.

The Weston game saw a much closer affair with William Ransom managing a 2 – 1 win.

Things were extremely tight when the team faced Mary Exton at home. With a couple of players away the team struggled to keep possession and were put under a great deal of pressure by Mary Exton, who had chances wrap the game up. Another excellent perfomance in goal, by Rory, kept the team in the game. With a late attack Finley won a corner, which proved to be the last play of the match. Fortunately a superb delivery from Samuel was met by the captain and Tom added to his tally for the season. This was a harsh result as Mary Exton had played superbly but showed the team never gives up and always has the quality to score.

Last week the team travelled away to St Ippolyts and found themselves a goal behind early on. This was made worse by the loss of the captain, while he recovered from a kick to the stomach. Later in the half Tom returned to the pitch and immediately levelled the scores. This gave the team more confidence and they began to take control of the game. A goal from Samuel took WR into the lead and Calum secured a third, making the game feel more comfortable. Samuel then went on to score an excellent goal from the edge of the box, curled low into the corner on the keeper's right. The score stayed at 1 – 4 and continued the good run of form.

Our next fixture is in the cup at home to Breachwood Green this Thursday. It is the first time the team have played a 9-a-side match together so please feel free to come and support them.
