Table Tennis at HBS

Well done to the four table tennis teams who went to Hitchin Boys’ School to take part in a table tennis competition on Tuesday afternoon.

The four players in both teams were ranked one to four and had to play the child from each school who were the same ranking as themselves. Each team played against four schools and the results were as follows:the A-team boys and girls came first in their group and went through to the final against Pixmore and the B-team girls and boys both came third in their group.

The boys went on to win their final with close fought games and they go on to represent North Herts in the next round on Thursday 7th December. The girls had a very unlucky final with seeds one, two and three winning and four losing. With the scores given to the pupils by the umpires after their games, they thought they had won. Unfortunately, a tie was given as the final score and Abigail had to play a first to 5 points tie break which she lost after a close run battle and the team were given second place.

All players were a credit to the school. They played some excellent table tennis and their behaviour was excellent showing control and great sportsmanship. We wish the boys all the very best in the next round.
