The William Ransom Orbit

Anything Can Happen if you Let It!

That is the message Mary Poppins gives us at the end of our summer show this year and I like to think this is the message we give everyone in school. Anything is possible for all of us and you can all be and do whatever you want.

Aiming high is really important and I like to think that all of you are given so many opportunities to experience different things that you can choose to be anything you want.

There are times we have to do things we don’t want to, and I am afraid that doesn’t stop when you leave school! As adults there are times we all have unpleasant jobs to do or challenges to take on, but as Mary Poppins also says ‘A Spoonful of Sugar helps the medicine go down!’

Choosing the right people to help me lead the school was quite a difficult task, I had to say to the teachers… ‘If you want this choice position, Have a cheery disposition Rosy cheeks, No warts, Play games, all sorts. You must be kind, you must be witty, Very sweet and fairly pretty.’ Fortunately Mrs Wheat and Mrs Hall came forward and I’ll let you decide if they meet my expectations!

Mary Poppins considers herself to be ‘Practically Perfect’ in every way. It would be lovely to be that self-confident, but I don’t think any of us are! It is important to believe we can succeed but that doesn’t mean we are perfect, we are human after all!

So here we are at the end of another school year! I hope the weather stays lovely for us all and in the words of Bert (and Mary Poppins)

I hope you all have a Jolly Holiday.
