We made it and only 5 sleeps until Christmas!

Looking back over the term what a lot has been achieved. All children are now settled into the routines and the foundations of good learning have been laid.

An exciting last week, with the Christmas play completed we got off to a great start with our visit to the pantomime Cinderella, at the Alban Arena. The children were really looking forward to seeing Andy from Cbeebies, the adults were more interested in Gareth Gates and none of us were disappointed! The ugly sisters were on good form and from the children’s writing the next day they were either loved or hated. The ‘real’ ponies were lovely and the girls loved all of the pretty dresses. Callum really liked the Strictly scene and thought the Bruce Forsyth impersonator was very funny. Buttons was true to form with his terrible jokes and the prince was indeed, charming!

After every trip comes the inevitable follow up and our writing the next day was very good especially four days before the end of term, the pictures even better. Well done, our first display for the spring term is already up!

Thank you to everyone for their contributions to the Christmas party, the extra cakes have been a welcome addition to our morning snack time and kept our sugar levels up! ‘Find your gang’ got the party off to a noisy start as everyone had to make their animal noise and find their group. ‘Untidy Bedrooms’ was also a riotous game, especially with Dain, our sports apprentice taking part! The sleighing song tested coordination and Pass the parcel quietened us down, that was until the football crackers were pulled and the second riot of the afternoon ensued with everyone blowing their whistles. Party tea was enjoyed by all and then a play outside whilst the Hoover was run over the room before our poor cleaner came in! William asked if we could have another party the next day!

Delivering the Christmas post, making pop corn and Spots’ First Christmas after Christmas dinner saw us through Thursday and Friday soon whizzed round. Plenty to take home today with homemade Christmas cards and calendars and the Christmas pictures and figures to take pride of place in your homes!

Please make some time during this holiday to do the homework indicated on the letter as a practice little and often is the way forward at this stage.

On behalf of myself and my TA’s a big thank you for our gifts and we wish you all a very happy and peaceful Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year. We look forward to seeing everyone on January 6th.
