Welcome to Class 1/2

We have had a great start to the term so far and we have all settled back into school very well. On our first day everyone got a chance to talk about how much fun they had during the summer holidays and it sounded as though class 1/2 has lots of jetsetters! We have spoken more about our summer holidays in Show and Tell with Mrs Easton and we have had a look at some of our holiday diaries.

In PE we have had our first lesson on the apparatus, which everyone enjoyed and showed all the different ways they can climb, move and jump. We have also started practising for athletics using the foam javelins to improve our throwing. The most fun we have had has been playing new games in PE. This week we have learnt how to play toilet monsters in our warm up and Robin Hood to help improve our dribbling skills in football.

So far in Maths we have; practised number bonds, started to use money, looked for patterns, rearranged number sentences, practised recognising a number of objects and worked as a whole class on the playground to make sure we know our number placement. This was very tricky as we all had to work together to get into the right order and we had missing numbers to make it more difficult.

Literacy has been very exciting already. The books we have read so far are, The Tiger Who Came to Tea, Dogger and Whatever Next. After we read Dogger, we all had our own soft toy, which we used with our partner to make up a story. We thought of lots of WOW words to help us make our story more exciting. When we read Whatever Next, it made us think about going on our own adventure. We turned on our imaginations and pretended to build our own vehicles to take us on an exciting journey.

We have started looking at The Great Fire of London in History and we will be doing some very exciting things to do with this, later this half term.

We do have some pictures for you to see but when we sort our minor technical problem, we will be able to upload many more.

Have a great weekend!
