William Ransom A-team footballers played away at Whitehill in a league match tonight. Having set up with three players at the back which was a formation we practised at football club, the boys played some really excellent football. During the first half they had many attempts on goal but somehow despite some great passing failed to score. The defence were solid and nothing got past the three boys at the back. The second half saw Whitehill come out and attack the ball in a much more positive manner but the defence continued to work well together until a hard kick from a corner ball found the striker who managed to nip in behind our defender and slot the ball into the corner.
Heads remained up and William Ransom continued to attack and defend and to their credit they kept the score at 1-0. Although they were disappointed as they felt that they had missed opportunities, all boys must be congratulated on playing their best football of the season. They should all be proud of their supportive team play and magnificent effort.
The B-team players had their second game of the season and once again set up with three at the back to defend against a strong team. John was forced to make a few early saves as the boys got used to their opponents style of play. Once again the boys worked together well with Taylor and Tommy looking to pass the ball around the defence which eventually resulted in a goal by Tommy five minutes before half time. Once again the second half started well, but a goal by Whitehill seemed to send the defensive line out of shape and this left space for another goal to be scored before the end of the game. The final score being a 2-1 win for Whitehill.
Well done boys a great game and everyone played to the best of their ability and took defeat in a mature way.
