The girls' football team played their first round Wix match away at Purwell. The two teams were fairly evenly matched in the first half but a lucky kick trickled between the legs of the William Ransom goal keeper to give Purwell a 1-0 lead at half time.
Alina came into mid field and Bethia dropped into defence and the second half saw much stronger play from William Ransom. Megan had several shots which narrowly missed the goal until she scored from a fantastic cross by Bella.
As the score was 1-1 at full time, 3 minutes each way of extra time was played. Purwell shot with some power from a distance and Lucy was unable to get across the goal mouth to attemp a save. Purwell go through as winners of the first round and unless we can arrange some 'friendlies', William Ransom girls have no more competitive football until the end of season rally on Saturday 12th March.
