Information from Mrs Driver

Dear Parents,

So much has been happening in school recently that I thought I would take this opportunity to update you on a few events.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to our collection for the Nepal Earthquake. We raised £554.10 which has been sent off to the Disaster Recovery Fund.

Last night I went to the Herts Catering Awards at the Watford Hilton because our Head Cook _ Henny Matthews received a Long Service Award and our wonderful team of ladies in the kitchen had been shortlisted as Catering Team of the Year! This was in the category of serving over 200 meals every lunchtime. It was a wonderful occasion and it was made all the better for winning the award. I am sure you will all join me in congratulating our wonderful team of ladies who work in the school kitchen and prepare such great meals for your children every day.

On Sunday we set off on our annual School Journey with our Year 6 pupils. Once again we are heading to North Wales from Sunday 17th May – Friday 22nd May. Therefore I will not be available in school. If you have any queries during the week, please contact Mrs Brown. Keep an eye on the school website as we hope to be able to keep you all up to date with what we are all doing in Snowdonia!

Once we return after half term, we reach the final half term of the year with lots to pack into those weeks. I hope you are keeping the 6th June free as it is the School Fete. This is our major fundraiser for the year and we do rely on support from everyone! The rota will be run on PTA Social so look out for messages from the SPA as to how to sign up and volunteer for stalls. The theme this year is Star Wars and we hope to have a Star Wars Parade so dust off those Darth Vader and Princess Leah costumes and come and join us! (The children can join in too!)

A couple of weeks later on 21st June Mrs Light, Dain Sears and I will be travelling to Sheffield with our Lacrosse team for the National Finals. This is another fantastic achievement and we wish them well.

The following week we have a number of different teams representing us at The North Herts Games. To date we have a netball team, a speed stacking team and a tennis team competing and there is still the cricket to go! This is an amazing achievement and we wish all our teams well. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mrs Light for her amazing commitment to the sport across the school, her enthusiasm is unending!

For those of you receiving remission for music fees, if you still require this next year, please reapply by contacting The Education Benefits team at the CSC via howcanwehelp@hertfordshire.gov.uk.
If you qualify for free school meals this will be renewed automatically, letters will be sent to those who no longer qualify. Please remember that even though there are universal free school meals for all KS1 pupils, if you qualify for free school meals, it is important that you still apply.

I would like to remind you all that we have an INSET Day booked for Friday 12th June.

Let’s hope that the sun shines for us next week and I hope you all have a lovely half term break when it finally gets here. We look forward to seeing all the children back at school on Monday 1st June 2015.

Yours sincerely

Mary Driver
