The children have enjoyed using traditional tales in their learning this half term – The Three Billy Goats Gruff, The Three Little Pigs and Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
Here are just a few of the things they got up to.
They created story maps, built bridges and ‘brick’ houses out of large construction and re-enacted the story using story spoons!
As part of their learning in maths they used their spacial awareness skills to copy and create shapes of houses using lolly sticks.
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) activities included designing and building a bridge that the goats could use and the troll could fit under, a house that all three pigs could live in, and the wolf (Mrs Moriarty) couldn’t blow down and finally a chair that could support a bear!
The children also used opportunities to write labels and captions including describing the troll.
The children found out how porridge was made… and even got to try some!
In PE the children have been practicing their ball skills. They have been exploring how to make them move, how to throw, aim and catch. Skills taught in the lesson have been continued in Discover and Do.
The children also investigated the number 6,7,8. They look at different representations, one more, one less and using a ten frame to see if numbers were odd or even using the ‘pairs wise’ way.
