The SPA Spring events kicked off with a fantastic Wine Tasting Evening very kindly hosted by our very own SPA member and wine aficionado -host Ricardo Rodrigues of Portuguese Story. On arrival, we were treated to an aperitif which was a delicious and refreshing start to the evening.
There were lots of tables of friends gathered around the school hall all laden with cheese and charcuterie to tuck into whilst sampling all the fabulous wines. It was great to see the hall filled with adults – Mrs Driver included – enjoying some glorious wine.
The wine journey started with lightly sparkling wine, and as we tasted it, Ricardo educated us all about the lesser-known Portuguese wine producers and their styles and flavours – it was very interesting to listen along to and we all learnt a lot.
As we journeyed through Portugal we sampled 6 wines ranging from delicious whites through various Regions of Portugal to full-bodied reds and finished the evening off with a delightful white port – what a great way to round off a lovely evening.
As always thanks again to all those who made the evening possible. Running the event and all the hard work setting/clearing up – it couldn’t have happened without you all.
The event raised £450 which will be going towards buying Art supplies for the Art workshops across the school.
It was a fabulous and informative evening – lots of wine orders were put in – and we headed off into the stormy night armed with a new appreciation for wine from Portugal.
