End of unit hockey tournament for Rowan

As we come to the end of the Spring Term, Year 5 have taken part in hockey and tennis lessons within PE this half term.

Today we took part in our usual end of unit tournament through the medium of hockey. We managed to avoid the rain and working in six teams we took part in a round robin style tournament so we all played each other.

As always with our mini tournaments, we were working on the skills of team work, resilience, encouragement and supportiveness and working on our personal management of winning and losing. We’ve come a long way since the start of the year and are turning into well rounded, fair and supportive team players, the more and more we have these opportunities.

At the end of every game we shook hands, had three cheers and worked as a team to decide who the player of the match on the other team should be. At the end of the tournament the nominations were counted (along with the points for a win / loose or draw) to conclude our tournament with ‘Players’ Player’, ‘Teachers’ Player’, ‘Runner Up Team/s’ and ‘Winning Team’ – see the photos below for all those awards.

Next term we are looking forward to athletics and cricket during our PE lessons.
