Holly go back in time to 1666!

Today, Year One went back in time to Sunday 2nd September 1666, the day the Great Fire of London started. We started the day by making soda bread because the fire started in Thomas Farriner’s bakery on Pudding Lane in London.

Then we recreated the streets of London with our houses and set them on fire! We demonstrated how a fire break works to help stop the fire and then we watched all the houses burn to the ground! The children recorded the event in their diary just like Samuel Pepys did in 1666.

In the afternoon, we created some fire artwork and finished the day by recreating the new streets of London from Lego bricks. The children had an amazing day and we saw some fabulous costumes too!
