What an amazing day today! The weather was wonderful and all of us saw some amazing things!

The majority of the group set off up the mountain and walked up over the ridge of Mount Cnicht and down to Tanygrisau station whilst a small group went to Llechwedd Slate Caverns to have a trip down into the deep mine. We were shown round the underground caverns by Phil whose father and grandfather had both worked in the mine.

From here we drove down to Blaenau Ffestiniog station where we caught the train to be met at Tanygrisau by the rest of the group. Once all together we went on to Tan y Bwlch where we all got off and walked down to the lake in the grounds of the house.

This was a wonderful location to sit and paint and the results were surprisingly good!

From here we walked back through the woods to The Plas.

The week so far has been a wonderful experience. It is ‘full on’ and there isn’t a moment to stop and think but the way the pupils are gaining in confidence and developing an independence is great to see. I am stopped on a regular basis and asked where we are from and complimented on the children’s behaviour. I feel proud to be part of the group and involved in everything that is going on.

We have no Internet connection as I write this (12.30am on Wednesday night / Thursday morning) but I will try to upload this to the school website tomorrow.
