William Ransom has a long tradition of presenting a summer musical and summer 2022 was no exception. This year we had over 75 children taking part in Matilda Jr. The show was based on Roald Dahl’s wonderful book and was very close in action and music to the London Stage Show.
We were extremely lucky to have so many talented performers to take on parts like Matilda, Miss Honey and Miss Trunchbull. But as well as these lead parts we had a number of outstanding performances from children taking on parts like Lavender, Bruce, Mr & Mrs Wormwood and so many of the children.
Much of the rehearsal time was done after school in children’s own time and the finishing touches were put together in school time where they could rehearse on the stage.
A William Ransom show is a true team effort with all members of staff getting involved in scenery painting, in making props and costumes and in selling tickets.
This year we had the added excitement of performing at a local music festival – Todd in the Hole, where the children premiered a few of the numbers and they went down a storm.
The show was an amazing success. There were standing ovations and everyone went away with smiles on their faces. We had fun, we laughed and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. These weren’t Revolting Children, they were Spectacular Children!
