PSHE – Thinking of Others

As part of PSHE in our Being Responsible unit, the children in Rowan and Willow class were asked to imagine that an alien had landed on Earth and asked them why humans look out for each other.  The children wrote some beautiful and interesting responses so we thought we would share some of them:

Dear Alien,

Us humans look out for each other because we are responsible and caring.  It doesn’t matter what race or colour we are because everyone is equal on Earth and if someone is being bullied we tell a trusted person or friend (someone who we trust to not be nasty to you and are kind to you) and don’t be afraid to tell a friend or trusted adult because that’s the right thing to do.

Yours faithfully

Parv the human

Dear Alien,

Welcome to Earth!  Humans look out for each other so they are happier.  If you are a good friend you will do this.  A friend is someone who is kind and looks out for you to cheer you up.  It increases both people’s happiness and sometimes even makes them live longer.  If you see someone looking upset or scared, you can help.  We look out for each other because we are responsible, kind and good humans.

Dear Alien

You asked a really good question and the answer is difficult to explain.   Humans look out for each other because we like to be kind and caring.  Humans have lots of friends (friends being other humans you get along with) and we like to comfort them when they are sad or getting bullied.  It’s important to be nice to other people.

Thanks for reading and for your question.

Esmee (pupil at WR)

Dear Alien

The reason why humans look out for each other has different reasons.  Some do it for kindness.  Others for self gain.  Some have no reason and do it just because they can.  Others do it for a living or because they care.  In my opinion, there is no definitive reason for this.

From Adella

Dear Alien

Us human beings look out for each other because we are really kind and if we didn’t the world would be a miserable place to live in.  No-one would trust anyone and we would never get problems or worries sorted.  The bullies would just keep bullying.  So if you look out for each other you would be a great friend and your friends would look out for you too.

Dear Alien

We look out for each other because we are kind and help everyone.  It makes us feel happy and we sometimes make friends that way.  We do not tease or be unkind to anyone and if we do we get told off and it makes us feel sad.  If we are kind and it makes us happy so we would have a better life.  An example of being kind: Bob was getting lunch from the shop when he saw that someone had dropped something so he picked it up.  A friend is someone that plays with you and is kind to you.

From Oliver

Dear Alien

Humans look out for each other because we need it.  When we are sad and need cheering up.  If someone has fallen over and is crying, they need us.  We need a friend.  A friend is someone you play with and chat with and trust and someone who is really close.  If someone is being mean to your friend and they don’t want to tell, you tell the teacher and the teacher will tell the human off.  A teacher is someone who teaches you stuff.  I hope you now know why we humans look out for each other.
