Science Week at William Ransom

It’s been an exciting week of Science in school this week.

Science Club set up an investigation to see how food changes over time. Everyone was able to visit the display over the week to see what happened. We found that some foods went hard while others went soft. Some went mouldy although the whole tomato and the whole apple didn’t change at all. The milk soon began to smell very bad!

Science Club also set up an investigation to see how mould grows on bread. We were very surprised that, after a whole week, our slices of supermarket white bread showed no signs of mould at all. We think it must have lots of preservatives which have stopped the mould growing.

We conducted a whole school investigation into slime. There are many ways to make slime and each year group tried a different recipe, observing how stretchy and sticky each type was. The Edible Marshmallow slime was voted the best!
