Table Tennis Team win through to the Regional Finals!

Our girls Table Tennis Team had a fantastic day out at the Zonal Finals in London this weekend!

It was an early start for the 4 girls meeting Mrs Light and Mrs Driver at Hitchin Station at 7.45am! The train to Kings Cross was on time and then we headed to Bethnal Green. We had plenty of time to spare so we called in for a welcome hot chocolate before getting to Morpeth School where the tournament was to be held.

After a quick warm up the first school we met were to be our toughest challenge. The Pilgrim School had some great players and the matches were tight but they beat us five games to three. After that we met Brockenhurst School and although there were some really tough matches the score line of seven to one to us didn’t reflect how well they played!

We then met Bournes Green who challenged us in a couple of matches but we won all eight here and our final opponents were Woods End from Harpenden. It is unusual to have 2 schools from one County but they went through as the highest runners up. There were some tough matches here but again we won seven of our eight games.

We had no breaks, all our games were played back to back so lunch was a welcome relief at 2.15! The organisers were a little vague about the next stage and no results were being announced that day! When we left others were still playing  but we knew we had to be at least runners up.  It all depends on how the other schools performed against Pilgrim as to whether we come first or second. Our feeling is that we were second so now go forward to the Regional Finals in Bristol on March 20th 2016! Another day out for Mrs Light and Mrs Driver!
