Trip-trapping Ash and Oak class

It’s been so much fun this week and there’s been so much learning going on, both during carpet and group time and in independent learning time in Discover & Do. Some days have felt positively warmer this week and we’ve seen lots of children wanting to be outdoors more. We can’t wait for this to continue and to develop the outdoor area into a welcoming place for the children to learn and explore. See below just a few of the things the children have been up to…

Lots of learning about bridges, how they are built and what makes them strong. The children explored this themselves during group activities and challenges set
Using the Three Billy Goats Gruff the texture table has seen play doh during group activities to create a troll and lentils during Discover & Do to retell the story and act it out with toys
During group activities the children used their creative skills to make masks of the characters in the Three Billy Goats Gruff
There has been drawing, colouring and mark making – all helping to develop those fine motor skills so vital for writing
Some great junk modelling and other creations in the creative area
The acting out of the story in the role play area was fantastic!
So much fantastic writing and literacy work both during group activities and during Discover & Do
In the Physical Zone outside this week the children have been developing their balancing skills on 2-wheel scooters
The children have access to phonics and number games on the iPads as well as story telling apps
Super work on mass using mathematical language
Lots of talk and communication in the small world and construction areas
Communication skills being developed with our photo walls that are great conversation starters!
