Year 5 and 6 Cross Country Tournament

The squad

This afternoon, sixteen runners from Year 5 and 6 took to the field at Knights Templar School to represent William Ransom at the School Sports Partnership cross country tournament!

After much anticipation for this event, including trials and weeks of training, our Year 5 girls and boys team and Year 6 girls and boys team finally got to run their races.

Wow – they did not disappoint us! With around 60 children or more in each race, our teams ran their socks off. The course was windy and hilly but everyone gave all they had, resulting in very proud children and a teary and overly enthusiastic teacher, heading home feeling super happy.

The Year 5 girls finished in 2nd place and the Year 6 boys came 1st. All the children finished in better than 38th position individually, with all children putting in PB runs. A special mention to Henry who finished 1st, even beating the pace maker to the finish line (!) and to Haysan for finishing 2nd in the girls race. We had 7 ‘Top 10’ finishers which was just brilliant.

The children were beautifully behaved and supportive of each other and we couldn’t be more proud of them – well done for representing William Ransom so beautifully and trying your very best. The future looks bright for running that’s for sure!
