In English, we have been studying a short unit of work on rap.
We have watched, read, analysed, written and performed our own, and thoroughly enjoyed doing so. (It has taken some of the staff down a lovely 70s / 80s / 90s memory lane of music too!)
This has linked nicely to the children’s music module looking at the rap from the Fresh Prince of Bel Air (IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN West Philadelphia born and raised…… enjoy that floating around your heads those of you who enjoyed 90s TV!)
Many of the children didn’t even know this was a style of performance that they liked, let alone were any good at writing. We have certainly found some hidden and surprising talents.
