Today, Class 3/4 investigated the digestion system and found out some amazing facts!
The children had four questions to answer: How many cups of water can the stomach hold?; how long is the small intestine?; how long does it take for food to get from the mouth to the stomach? And how does food move through the intestines?
In groups, the children had a selection of items to help them think about the questions, including Mr Burr's old hockey socks (clean I promise) and a tennis ball!
-The children found out that the small intestine is 6 metres long!
-Food takes 10 seconds to get to the stomach.
-The stomach holds 15 cups of water!
-Muscles in the small intestines push food along (the ball in sock!).
Much fun and much learning was had!
