Only 6 sleeps until Christmas!

Looking back over the term what a lot has been achieved. All children are now settled into the routines and the foundations of good learning have been laid.

It has been an exciting last week, with the Christmas play completed; we got off to a great start with our visit to the pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk, at the Alban Arena. The zombies were the boys favourite of course and the girls least favourite. (What do you mean you can’t remember zombies in the story?!!)The girls liked the fairy and the pretty dresses at the wedding!

Thank you to everyone for their contributions to the Christmas party, the extra biscuits have been a welcome addition to our morning snack time and kept our sugar levels up! The children were amazing at ‘Musical bumps’, the sleighing song tested coordination and Pass the parcel quietened us down, ready for food. Party tea was enjoyed by all and then a play outside whilst the Hoover was run over the room before our poor cleaner came in!

Delivering the Christmas post was a riot with tv reporters and cameramen all over the place. I hope you all managed to watch the Anglia news as many children from reception were seen. Well done to Georgie whose excellent manners could be heard at the serving hatch!

There was plenty to take home today with homemade Christmas cards and calendars and lots of important letters to be kept safe, especially Show and Tell and the weekly spellings.
Please make some time during this holiday to do the homework indicated on the letter. A practice little and often is the way forward at this stage. Practising word recognition would benefit everyone’s reading fluency and writing. Well done to the three children who can already read every word on the blue cards and have moved on to word bags.

On behalf of myself and my TA's a big thank you for our gifts and we wish you all a very happy and peaceful Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year. We look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday January 6th.
