This week in Chestnut Class

My favourite thing that we did this week was Geography because we got into groups and were given a country that we had to look up and find interesting facts about it on the Ipads. by Damon

I love art because we are learning about Joaquin Torres Garcia and we drew symbols of things that we adore and it showed everyone who we are. By Reece

The thing I like the most this week was our Geography work. We had to research the given country using the ipads and make a poster on it.  By Riley

My favourite part of this week was reading the end of Journey to Jo’burg! So far, it has been a brilliant book about Apartheid in South Africa and two little African children going on a life-threatening journey to find their mother in the City of Gold- Jo’burg –to help their ill baby sister. I have really enjoyed this story; so much that I had to get one for myself!  By Tegan

My favourite thing we did this week would be dance and art. I really enjoyed dance   because even though we all got hot and sweaty you can really express yourself through movement. I also really enjoyed art because we are doing work on Joachin Torres Garcia which includes painting symbols . By Jamie

My absolute favourite things I’ve done this week have to be dance and computing .In dance we have been dancing to the song firework trying to be as happy and jolly as fireworks, and in computing we have been researching an animal and making a power point of all of the facts. I have learnt so much!  By Madeline

In Maths, we are learning decimals, fractions and percentages.  I enjoyed it as it is my favourite subject.  In Computing, we are making a presentation in pairs about an animal and later we are going to present it.  I enjoyed doing Computing because I like researching.  By Ishaan

My favourite part of this week was doing indoor athletics. You could choose what to do out of quick feet, standing high jump, standing long jump, standing triple jump, speed bounce, javelin & chest push. It was really fun.  By Seb.

The best thing that I have done this week is HOCKEY CLUB!!!!!! By Dan

My favourite thing that I have done this week is Dance because we are doing firework dances.  We got to choose our group and do a three minute dance to the song ‘Firework’ by Katy Perry.  In a few weeks, we are going to dress up in bright clothes, so that we can perform to Keystage 1.  By Elodie

My favourite thing was listening to Chestnut Class debating as Victorians who were either 'for or against' the expansion of the railways.  Harrison was a very convincing farmer who was worried about his cows and his crops.  Yasmin was worried about the damage to her health and the speed of the trains and there were many children who thought the railways were ruining the countryside.  On the other side of the argument, Jamie argued convincingly that the railways would mean he could transport his flour more easily around the country.  Isobel was pleased because she could come back from university to see her family and many other people had very strong arguments for the railway expansion.  This was incredibly entertaining to listen to and I was very impressed with the children's debating skills.  Mrs Hall
