Caernarfon in the Sunshine!

It was interesting to see how many more children needed to be woken this morning after all the exercise yesterday! There were quite a few bleary eyes as they all came down to breakfast but soon woke up as they tucked into cereal, toast, sausage, bacon, egg …. I could go on!

Once fortified by food we made our way down to catch the coach and headed off to Caernarfon. The weather was glorious as the castle came into view, perched on the hill top overlooking the town. Once inside we were taken on a guided tour and after nearly 20 years of visiting Caernarfon I still learned something new – where the word Garde-robe comes from and how it now relates to a wardrobe! I’ll leave you working that one out!

There was then an opportunity to sketch the castle from different view points and have our lunch in a beautiful position.

During the afternoon the adults were taken around Caernarfon by one of the work groups. The children also had to identify photos taken from around the town and every year it surprises me that the photos we took 15 years ago are mostly still there!

After the Town Trail groups arrived back at the castle in various stages having done some souvenir shopping and then we headed back to the Plas.

The evening was spent painting slate and treasure hunting which meant all of us got to know all areas of The Plas very well.

There were lots of tired faces during the bedtime story tonight and we hope everyone feels bright and refreshed for another busy day tomorrow!

Stop Press – Itinerary change for tomorrow – we are having our Harlech day tomorrow due to limited availability at the poets house! At least the weather looks good for the beach tomorrow!!
